Washburn University Chemistry Club

Two sets of WSGA president and vice president candidates visited our meeting to speak about their campaign platforms.  Both candidate pairs
gave out brochures.

See the posters hanging around various campus buildings for further details.  T-shirt designs have been finalized.  Order forms are available.

The annual KAS conference will be held March 27, 28 at Washburn University.  Volunteers will be needed to assist in various capacities.  Contact chemistry club officers by email for further details or to volunteer.  Fees for attending the conference meetings will be $20 per person (student presenters are paid for by Chem Club). If you wish to attend, be sure to get registered at the KAS website (http://www.kansasacademyscience.org/).
Further discussion was held on ideas for a Stoffer Hall Battle.  The possibility of “dancing with the nerds” was presented.

Volunteers will be needed for Chemistry Day, April, 2.  Contact Chem Club officers for details or to volunteer.

A speaker will be present April 9 to talk to us about forensic anthropology.  Speakers will be available on select Thursday afternoons with the forensic chemistry lab.

Upcoming events will include our annual bowling party.

Our Vice President has stepped down.  Nicholas Sloop has been appointed as Chemistry Club Vice President.  Diana Crain has been appointed as Co-Communications Director.

Our first meeting of the semester will be held Thursday, February 12.  Funding forms for the annual KAS conference have been submitted to WSGA.  The conference will be held at Washburn University, and will be March 27 and 28. Volunteers will be needed to assist with the conference.  The search for guest speakers for Chemistry Club meetings continues.  Several schools in the nearby area have been contacted, and a few have responded.  Other career oriented speakers have also been contacted.  T-shirt plans have been finalized and order forms will be available at the February 12 Chemistry Club meeting.  More discussion was held on ideas for a Stoffer Hall Battle.  Our club would like to plan a “green activity”.  Chemistry Day will be held April 2.
