Officer Meeting Minutes
Hello All,
Unfortunately, summer is ending. But have no fear, the Chemistry Club is here to help make the semester a little more exciting! We hope to see you all join us again this fall for all of our meetings and events.
Here are the minutes from the officer meeting that took place on August 15.
Members present were Sean Armstrong, Renae Solko, Nick Hill, Elizabeth Farnham, Caitlin Givens, and Dr. Schmidt. The first club meeting of the year was discussed. The meeting will take place next Friday, August 24th at noon. Pizza will be provided! The meeting place has yet to be determined due to hectic state Stoffer is in right now. Look for posters in the hallways and announcements in your classes for further information. The club dues for this year will stay the same as last year: $6 per semester or $10 per year. Dues can be paid at the meeting. An upcoming event that will be discussed at the meeting is the annual lake party. The specifics for the party have not yet been finalized. Plans need to be made with Dr. Angel to reserve the shelter house, as well as see if he will be offering his boat services. We will try to have the party at the end of August or the beginning of September, most likely on a Friday. Yet again, we are looking for anyone who has ideas for this years t-shirt design. We had some rough ideas for something having to do with the construction of our new building. If anyone has any ideas please bring them up at the meeting. The idea is to get a design picked so we can have the t-shirts out early in the semester.
There are several things to look forward to this year from Chemistry Club. For example, we will have speakers from all different backgrounds in chemistry. We will most likely have at least one presentation from one of our own faculty. Additionally, we will look to attend some conferences this year. In November is the American Chemical Society (ACS) Midwest Regional Meeting in
All Chemistry Club officers are required to be Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society. All other members are welcome to become Student Affiliates as well. You can join by going online to www.acs.org or there will be some forms available at the meeting. It is very beneficial to be an ACS Student Affiliate. Any questions or concerns about the club can be addressed at the meeting.
I hope you all enjoy this last weekend before the semester starts and hopefully we will see you at the meeting next Friday!
